DS white coating on tongue and bad breath

DS aged 4 has this white coating on back of the tongue. His tongue is dry and rough even after plenty of water. I’ve also noticed he has bad breath even after brushing. It doesn’t particularly come off when brushing tongue either . Is it thrush? Dr just says see dentist and drink more water. Dentist says see dr if continues. His diet is varied and teeth are all fine. I’m worried he’ll get picked on.

Looks like a normal tongue that isn’t being brushed, does he know you need to brush your tongue?

we always brush tongue twice a day, and use electric toothbrush, it still looks like that

Does he snore or mouth breathe?

Tonsil stones?

Oral thrush?

I'd take him to see the pharmacist then GP if needed.
