Is it acceptable to use numbers from class WhatsApp to arrange a small birthday playdate?

Hi, my reception age child wants to invite a few children from school to play for his birthday (not a big party). I don’t really know the parents, is it ok to private message them using numbers from the class whatsapp or is that a no no as they haven’t specifically given me there number. Thanks!

I think that’s fine, I’ve done it. What some people do on ours is say ‘is toms mum on here?’ And usually Tom’s mum will identify herself and then you can DM them. If they don’t identify themselves maybe they dont want to be text 😂

That really irritates me because it they just search the kid’s name they’ll inevitably find the message where Tom’s mum has introduced herself as Tom’s mum!
