Stopped feeding toddler - what to expect from hormones?

Hi all. I just finished breastfeeding my toddler last week after 3.5yrs. I was hoping to make it to a year so we went much longer than I expected, but I'm really grateful we were able to feed for so long.
My question is, should I expect a bit of a slump/drop in my mood? We've been on one feed before bed for a long time, and I'm not sure if he was even drinking anything for the last couple of months. I have felt quite off/low energy today and it suddenly dawned on me that might be why - for context, it ended quite abruptly (I saw an opportunity and ran with it - he wouldn't have stopped on his own!) and I was ready to stop, so feeling a bit nostalgic but overall happy not to be doing it anymore.
Thanks in advance

I had the weaning blues when my period came back, so actually had the hormonal upheaval three months before weaning. It lasted about a week, I was very tearful.

I didn’t notice any difference, but I did wind up with a breast abscess.

I finished at three years, after winding down like you. I was expecting a big slump but didn’t actually feel one. I assume because it was a slow reduction over months.

I did fall pregnant a month after finishing breastfeeding, and had been trying for a few months. So I suspect something happened hormonally even though it didn’t manifest in the way I had expected.

congratulations on completing an epic Breast Feeding journey!

@Wirelessbird thank you! And congrats to you too! It has been lovely but happy to have my boobs back haha. That's really interesting as we are TTC with no luck so far, and I did wonder if it had somethign to do with hormones around feeding (even though I have my period back). We shall see.

I have just finished breastfeeding my 3 year old. We were still feeding before and after nap and through the night. When I dropped from on demand to naps and bedtime at 2 years old is when I got all the symptoms of ‘weaning’ and my period returned. After full weaning 2 weeks ago, I felt fine and still do, but I am pregnant so maybe that makes a difference.
