Silly question but is temp of between 38 and 39 normal with a head cold for children? Very blocked nose, sore tummy and aches and pains bit of sore throat! CalpoL not really getting temp down and using nurofen now too! Thank you

Yes, of course. Your child has what sounds like a viral infection so a temperature is part of the body’s response to the virus.

It is. The reason anyone gets a temperature with either a viral/bacterial infection is because the body is raising the temperature to make it uninhabitable for the intruders.

I would expect calpol to bring the temperature down though. Make sure they're not wearing too much, too many blankets as ultimately having a temperature will make them feel cold and naturally we want to make them feel warmer which isn't the right thing to do. It's just a case of monitoring them, if they're coherent (when awake obviously) eating, drinking etc normally it's just a case of riding it out and keeping up with the pain relief (spacing out, following instructions) keeping hydrated. If you feel something else is going on contact someone medical, hope they feel better soon

The free Fever Friend app is super helpful for this sort of thing.
