Am I being stupid thinking I could travel with a 19 month old on hand luggage?

So travelling next month with what will be a 19 month old, we are going from a small local airport, a two hour flight, and our hotel is a short 7 minute drive from the airport.
We being me, my partner and the toddler.

Our hotel is all inclusive and a 5 minute walk away from a large Mercadona Supermarket.

Am I being really stupid thinking we can travel on hand luggage?

Im thinking all we need for our travel is 2 bottles for milk (our toddler still loves their milk) enough nappies and wipes for travel, I will have my water bottle which they love using rather than their own, 7 day time and 7 night time outfits and a hat.

Nappies, milk, suncream, wipes can be bought out there and Ive checked the hotel has a launderette that I can just use when needed?

I dont think im being unrealistic but id like to know if anyone else here has done it?

Does your 19 month old have a seat? With 3 x hand luggage, I would say that was easily doable.

Absolutely fine! However, if you’re taking a buggy or car seat with you, I recommend buying a proper carrier (£15-20?) and checking it in free as one of the items you’re allowed to take free with kids (buggy, car seat or travel cot).

when my two were small, we “padded out” the car seats “to protect them” with clothing, bags of nappies etc and never had any issues.

I’m not ashamed to say that even when my two were in school and using booster seats, we took the (small) booster seats in a car seat bag (also padded with jackets / beach towels etc) and checked it in free 🙂.

If you’re taking towels, I recommend the Turkish beach towels as they’re huge, very flat and dry quickly.

Also - mercadona is my favourite Spanish supermarket for skincare, makeup etc so you can get everything you need and some really brilliant stuff for less than €5.
