Am I just depressed or just don’t enjoy being a parent?

I just don’t enjoy parenting, theres nothing enjoyable about it. I feel depressed and miserable all the time. My kids father left and left me to raise them on my own. I’ve been told by people im lucky and should be grateful he doesn’t bother but I don’t feel that at all. Even the positives people try to tell me dont sound good to me. Does this sound like depression?

Yes, it does. Single parenting is hard but to not find anything enjoyable is extreme.

My mum was like this. Always stressed, always miserable. It really affected me.

Pull on your big girl pants and do something about it, for the sake of your children.

So I should just snap out of it?

You should do something about it. Get some antidepressants. Pay for childcare and go exercise and do something for yourself. Look for some joy in your life.

Kids are hard. You need to make some active, positive changes.

parenting is hard, not mention single parenting. You have to look after yourself before you can enjoy your children. So think about what you would enjoy and find time to do those so that you can raise your own happiness and hopefully the generally outlook will be better

tell this to your GP and ask for antidepressants. They will help loads x
