Scotland CAMHS criteria for ADHD medication after diagnosis and discharge

Scotland advice.
Has anyone got any advice on what criteria a 13 year old child requires to be accepted for prescribed ADHD medication through CAMHS. My son has a diagnosis through CAMHS and was discharged (not by choice) after diagnosis. Did a referral again for medication but was declined due to not meeting criteria. I’m frustrated beyond belief. Any advice would be greatly appreciated x

My guess would be that other first line treatment plans have not been put in place yet. Medication is a second line treatment for children with ADHD and will only be prescribed once other treatments have been implemented and shown to be unsuccessful.
