Flying following day after 6-year-old’s tooth extraction for abscess?

Hi,

my 6 yr old has an abscess and we were told we need to remove the tooth, he’s set to have it done tomorrow but we fly on holiday on Tuesday and a friend just told me that she’s not sure if we should fly on Tuesday as apparently after having a tooth extracted it can be very painful in the sky with the pressure and now I’m all worried.

I already mentioned to the dentist we are flying on Tuesday and she said he would be fine as kids usually are. But I just want a second opinion now.

would any dentist or anyone with a similar case be able to share thoughts.

we could postpone extraction for another week but that’s another week of antibiotics.

thanks

If the dentist says it’s ok I would go. Make sure you have calpol with you on the plane - you might need to buy it after going through security, or take the fast melts tablets

No security limitation on liquid medications. Most airports have recently gotten rid of the 100ml rule anyway.

I think many still have the 100ml rule, but you no longer need to take them out of your bag and put them in a clear plastic bag.

Nope, frequent flyer here and most airports are allowing containers of up to 2 litres. It’s brilliant - no more faffing around with travel minis

Tooth needs to come out asap. You don’t want the abcess to flare up
when on holiday.
