Hypoallergenic formula trial for suspected milk allergy making newborn more unsettled

My little one has a suspected milk allergy.
He is three weeks old and the drs has today given us hypoallergenic formula to trial for two weeks
We've given him two bottle this evening and he seems way more fussy and unsettled than usual!
I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences of milk allergies In newborns where it got worse before it got better!
Or if not how long did it take for the hypoallergenic formula to properly effect your little one.
I don't want to unsettled or hurt him with the new formula for longer than needed if it's not going to work and he was actually better off with the original formula!
Thanks!

I have a CMPA baby. I breastfed so I don't have first hand experience with the formula but I was in a lot of online support groups for it (and read about it loads when I myself was looking to move to formula). Hypoallergenic formula is thinner and comes with it's own problems but if he does have CMPA, it's important you stick with it (and babies do just fine on it). The dairy protein stays in their systems for weeks so you really need to trial this for at a minimum 2 weeks to see an improvement.
