Does anyone have a DC in secondary school with no phones brought to school at all?

If your DC's secondary school has a total no phones policy, how does it work with travel to and from school?
My DD is in Y7 and she's been fine about not having her phone in school - she leaves it in her locker. It has been more of a "you shouldn't" than "you mustn't" policy but with the new DfE rules they are introducing phone lockers. They say they also have had pupils messaging parents and then getting anxious because the parents don't reply immediately.
DD has quite a long bus journey and we'd love for her to read/chat/listen to audio books but not watch hours of Netflix (we usually don't give her enough time on the apps she wastes time on for her to do that) on the bus. Or possibly catch up on sleep in the mornings!
Or are there no schools that actually follow this pattern?

Gosh, I wish ours would. We have like 700 apps they are expected to use during the school day. Despite not allowing phones to be used during the school day. I know, make it make sense!

Ours are allowed phones during travel. Then they are meant to stay in bags and not be accessed at all until 3:10pm when they are dismissed. Except for the 20 times a day they are told to log into whatever app to check homework or do some online activity or check their timetable.

Anyway, mine isn’t always allowed her phone to school as we are quite strict. It’s only a 15 minute bus journey though. She chats to friends or reads a book.

They will have to stop that, then, because the DfE says no phones in school time except for medical use. Maybe DD school will also cut down on the apps? We can only hope. She's already got a behaviour point for chatting to her mate on Teams during IT.

DH thinks she should have it for the journey from the bus station to home (15 min walk though she usually gets the bus - in the morning it's downhill but in the afternoon it's uphill so that's fair enough!) and we put single tickets on her phone.
