Hi all,
I’m looking for some advice / others’ experiences ahead of an upcoming court date and feeling quite anxious about the possible outcome.
I’m currently in a custody dispute with my child’s father. Since the last hearing, he’s had two drug tests within around three months, one for cannabis and one for cocaine, and both have come back positive. He hasn’t actually shared the results with me, so I haven’t seen the exact levels, but it’s been confirmed they’re positive.
At the last hearing, the plan was contact centre visits plus one FaceTime call a week. However, since then:
He hasn’t arranged a contact centre at allThe last two FaceTime calls were ended by himThere are also existing concerns around anger management
From my point of view, the current arrangements clearly aren’t working and feel really inconsistent and upsetting for my little boy. Rather than things improving, it feels like they’ve got worse.
My worry is that the court will just order contact centre contact again, but that was already put in place and he hasn’t engaged with it. I’m now considering asking the court for no contact until he can show he’s sober.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Do courts tend to pause contact altogether where there are repeated positive drug tests and lack of engagement, or is it more likely they’ll keep pushing supervised contact even if it hasn’t been taken up?
Any experiences or thoughts would really help. Thank you.
