If it’s Kids YouTube you can block certain channels but very annoyingly any Chanel seems to be able to add YouTube videos

for example I tried to block any with coco Melon, but everyday new Chanel’s are added with these videos on and we ended up with hardly any content

in the end we gave up and now only watch Kids bbc

I had the same issue with mine only watching horrible US based kids with loads of $$$$ on toys and their behavior.

Kept blocking channels but they’d find a way to create more channels. We now just don’t turn on YT and put a code so they can’t get it on without us.

We've also given up on YouTube because the video recommendations were such a mess. It felt like we were playing whack-a-mole with blocking channels of crappy content.

Back to just BBC stuff for now. It's a bit of a shame because there were some nice shows my son liked, but the arguments about wanting to watch some random thing he saw in the recommendations were not worth it at all.

An alternative I believe is to have a kids account and block everything except a few channels that you manually whitelist.

Is it YouTube kids or normal YouTube? You can on the kids one but not the normal one. You could keep clicking ‘not interested’ on the normal one to see if that helps

I personally use an app called Cold Turkey Blocker. Using this you can block entire YouTube channels, but be very careful how you do this as it may block the whole site.

The app only charges a one time fee. I think it cost me about $29 or so.

I use it all the time.

(I am not associated with the app, just a user who likes it)

Youtube Kids is terrible unless you set it to the mode where it only shows whitelisted content (ie, you have to add channels in manually).

You can block individual channels but how to do it varies based on what you're viewing it on. How is she watching it - TV, tablet, app, browser?

In addition there are about 738i2378927449 different Blippi channels and you have to block all of them individually. And 3000 each of cocomelon, every one of the annoying children in totally white house channels, the weird avocado with the manic eyes, the wolf peppa pig knock off with the rage-inducing laugh, the pregnancy/doctor fetish content and every other weird and disturbing thing that is on there.

If you aren't using the whitelist mode it's usually best to just block youtube entirely.

A few years ago, a guy wrote about the state of YouTube Kids and published the article on Medium.

It is well worth a read. A big shocking.

You cam block them and click don't suggest channel but it literally means nothing, YouTube will just push other slop it wants your child to click on instead. Or other channels
We use the whitelist mode or stick to playlists of videos I've chose myself
For a while I just didn't let them use YouTube
