My 2yo DS (3 in March) has become a terrible sleeper.

Honestly started the day he cracked potty training, (approx 8 months ago) when we put him down he started asking for a wee, a poo etc and became much more of a battle - not unbearable but a definite step change.

He dropped naps at home in september but continued to have them in nursery (monday to friday)

Over the christmas holidays his routine went out the window, multiple late nights - still wasn't napping any more. He'd fall asleep in our bed with one of us, usually by 8pm which was also fine.

When he returned to nursery after christmas (and restarted the naps) he refused to go to sleep until 10pm ish when hed fall asleep in our bed and we'd move him into his own bed. We asked nursery to stop naps which didnt seem to help at all. We ended up taking the side off his cot to entice him, this worked but I stupidly thought transitioning to a toddler bed at this point was a good idea. My logic was his sleeping is terrible anyway so let's get this transition done now.

The 3 weeks since the new bed has been hell. He takes forever to go to sleep monday-friday - averaging a 10pm bedtime. The weekends are better, he falls asleep by 8pm but he never stays in his bed all night, he sneaks in our bed at some point through the night and kicks us all. We're all absolutely shattered and I feel so so stressed out with the entire situation.

Any tips much appreciated.

My tip is mattress on the floor by your bed then he doesn't end up in your bed but he's close enough by. Then overall sleep is not perfect but it's easy enough to settle him.
Although you might end up like us with the whole family in one room snuffling and coughing through every illness...

Also you always think it's something you did or didn't do that caused the latest sleep issue but usually it's nothing of the sort it's just random or bad luck.

Thank you @johnd2 , tonight has been better, though it's still early!
