Nursery want me to potty train, DS stubborn and not keen - how do I handle this?

DS (3y3m) goes to preschool 5 mornings, 1 day he stays til 3pm. On this day he often does a poo after lunch so they have to change him.

I tried potty training in a fairly half hearted fashion at half term and he's not interested

He won't wear pants. Nursery have suggested just going commando in the trousers instead. This sounds like a nightmare mess scenario to me

He only has 3 more afternoons until term finishes

Is there any point in me attempting to train him or should I just tell nursery I am waiting til the summer holidays?

I would wait until he is ready, maybe let him run about naked with easy access to a potty during the summer, but I dont thing forcing the issue will help.

I would just tell nursery that you're waiting until the summer holidays. Seems pointless forcing the issue now with the holidays so close.

However, I would really go for it once the holidays start - have you got a garden? Can ds go bare bottomed in the garden for a few days?

Interestingly, when my sister was potty training her twin boys, they went commando. She felt it was just one less thing to have to pull up or down, particularly at the beginning when the "I need to go" and "I've gone" moments are very close together

Ignore nursery. They can change 3 more nappies and let your DS choose in his own good time that he prefers the loo to nappies.

I'ld be tempted to tell nursery that if they want to try and train him the afternoons he is there, they can feel free!
