Is 10.5 Tog Duvet ok for a 6 year old?

Hi all, I live in New Zealand but brought my son a duvet cover from NEXT as I really like their designs. As UK bedding is slightly different sizing to here I also had to order him a duvet inner from NEXT to fit the cover, so cannot easily return it. I’m not familiar with the Tog rating system as we just tend to call them winter/summer/all seasons weight but read online that 10.5 tog is closest to all seasons. The one that arrived seems quite thick, his room is between 17 degrees in winter and up to about 23/24 in middle of summer. Will this duvet be ok. He sleeps in short sleeve pjs year round. Anyone else’s kids sleep in a 10.5 tog year round or should I order a lighter one for summer

10.5 is likely too warm.
You would be better with 7.5 then an extra blanket if needed when its cold.

We all only have 10.5 tog all year round. Extra blankets on top in the winter and kicked off entirely in the night if there's a genuine heatwave. Never saw the point of faffing about storing and changing over bulky duvets during the year.

Same here! I couldn't tell you what Tog we have. We just add a blanket on top in winter or remove when hotter.

We use 4.5's in our house year round but we keep it warmer than you do in the winter, I don't think 4.5 would be warm enough for 17 degree room temp.

I think 10.5 will be too warm for summer and 24 degrees but everyone is different.

DD has a 9 in winter but 4.5 from about April-October in UK. We have the sort you can have as 2 separate duvets or join together as one 13.5.

10.5 is not all year round really. It’s a good option for a UK climate for Winter- Spring but not summer.

My 2 year old has a 10.5 tog and is absolutely fine she kicks it off if she gets warm.

You can buy all season duvets which are 2 different thicknesses but can be buttoned together. So ours are a 4.5 tog, a 9 tog and combined they make up 13.5. Next sell them

I use 10.5 tog in winter, but the heating is off all night. I cannot use 10.5 tog in spring or summer in the UK.

I think it will be lovely and cozy for your winter. Do you even need a duvet in summer? I go for a sheet when really warm, with a lightweight summer blanket if not.
