1-year-old suddenly reacting strongly to household noises – is this normal?

Hello, our little boy is turning 1 year old, and for the past 2 weeks we’ve noticed that he has started getting startled by the noises of the hair dryer / vacuum cleaner / microwave. Before, he didn’t have any issues with these appliances, but now he startles, his whole body turns red and he stiffens, even clenching his fists with both hands (once he even trembled a little). This lasts for about 1 second.
He then starts pointing at the appliance and saying “boo-boo,” and he has no problem touching it. He even continues to stay in the room and play with something else.
I read online that this could be Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), which really worried me :( Could you please share your opinion or let me know if your children have had similar behavior?

They definitely do go through a phase of not liking the hoover or hand dryers, etc. I couldn’t even take mine into a public loo without them crying about the hand dryer! Both mine are completely NT. It’s just one of those things.

I think they get more aware of the world, that's all. They're not babies anymore and figuring out the world around the.

Yes this is really normal for around that age! I wouldn't worry about it.
