In the trenches of the 14 month sleep regression

So according to wonder weeks (if you believe all that) we are currently deep in the depths of the fussy phase of leap 9.

These last couple of nights we ve had a few false starts, waking after 30 mins or so and then split nights.

We had planned to night wean her over Xmas using DP - has been ebf, total bottle refuser, always fed to sleep. However as she’s had numerous back to back illnesses and 5 teeth coming through at once, it seemed unfair to do this so we never started.

Teeth have now cut, doesn’t appear to be in pain but she is now screaming blue murder if I try and not offer boob or cut a feed short during bedtime or if she wakes in the night. Did read somewhere that if you’d not night weaned by 14 months don’t bother trying as there’s just too much else for them to deal with for the next few months.

I don’t want to offer boob just to settle her as feels like it’s going to make night weaning even harder, but she is hysterical without it. Is it just leap 9 and so need to ride out the next few weeks?

Any experiences in this regression where your DC was not weaned and had to feed to sleep?

I night weaned at 14 months with both of mine and they were fine after a couple of nights. Pissed off the first couple of nights, but then happy to accept cuddles or strokes instead of boob. I bedshared with them both though on a mattress on the floor so I was there the whole time. Slept much much better within a week.

Woke again after a 2 hour stint but somehow managed to settle her without boob without endless crying.

I have a pull out mattress in her room that maybe for the past 5 days or so I ve been sleeping on from about midnight onwards after the second wake up.

Not made the connection before now but she seems to sleep better the second half of the night whilst I’m in her room. Might have to try a full night and see how that goes, although probably jinxed it now!
