It's an opt out service, you can phone their office and let them know you don't want any more visits if you like.

Did they say why they were coming back did you say about when your son was a baby?

I had a message from my HV a couple of weeks ago saying they are trialling a 4 month check for those that want it.

I had fortnightly appointments with my eldest (2020) until 7 months then monthly until 14 months and I have a 14 week old now and have been seeing her every 3 weeks but now ok to go to when needed as my second doesn't have the same issues as my first

In Scotland, Health Visitor appointments are a bit more frequent than in England.

Generally there are appointments:

  • after discharge from Midwife service
  • 3-5 weeks
  • 6-8 weeks
  • 3 months
  • 4 months
  • 8 months
  • 13 months
  • 30 months
  • 4-5 years.

The appointments are pretty short and they try to keep the health visitor the same for all visits. It's kinda boring if everything is going fine, but helpful if you have any issues. My son was colicky and it was great to have an appointment already scheduled when I thought I would go mad because he was so unsettled.

Just ask them not to come anymore if you don’t want them to

I’m just outside of Glasgow and I can’t remember exactly but definitely much more regularly than I see from English posters on here. Every week/over week the first month or two then once a month, then after 6 months there was a 1 year assessment and then 27 months fine one was a preschool assessment. I really liked my health visitor and quite looked forward to her visits so never bothered me!

As above posted says there's a set schedule of visits, you can also be placed in an additional pathway if there are any other issues such as child or maternal health issues, or other vulnerability.
