My ds has just come home and told me he forgot his friend is having his birtday tonight at a restaurant in town.He wants to go with his 2 friends and it finishes at 10.If he had told me yesterday I could have arranged for dp to pick him up but dp is at work and can't get hold of him atm Dp works opposite the restaurant and finishes wotk at 9.45 so thats ok in theory if i contact him in time.I said make sure you have money and phone and he says he has no money yet had £35 on saturday He is 14

Noddy... in my house the children know that I don't do overdrafts! So if they've spent their money that is the end of it.

So what if you are "the worst parent in the world"... you're not! Besides... this too shall pass and you'll be awful for a whole other set of reasons soon.

If he's spent his money then tough. I agree with you, they need to know the value of the stuff. Maybe this will be one of the things to teach him that you spend what you have and then you're done.

Well done you for sticking to your guns!

My ds isn't talking to me tonight because he didn't like the way I told him to pick up his sweetie papers and put them in the bin.

Boo farking hoo.

Have had a lovely quiet night, punctuated only occasionally by pointed sighs and huffs.

Does anyone have any advice or ideas on how to handle a 16 year old dd who has just told me she has genital herpes.
