I’m feeling really behind this year, I usually start at the beggining of September and this year it’s almost the end of October and I’ve got nothing: I’ve almost finished making my daughter a Ben and holly dolls house, which will be her main thing but other than that nothing

Mate, its bloody october

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 19/10/2025 10:54

Eh? started what?!

I know some people plan all year but I don't think most people will have thought about it other than maybe fixing the guest list.

We'll order Turkey in November, and invite people for drinks etc, everything else waits till the couple of weeks before.

BlindSpotForCats · 19/10/2025 10:55

Nope. Not even close.

We are seriously financially stressed this year so i can't get my head around things yet.

I was also going to say, Eh?

I haven’t thought about it except I went round the local shops yesterday and all the Christmas stock was out.

FancyCatSlave · 19/10/2025 10:56

Never start until after 5 Nov. It doesn’t take that long!

AllFours · 19/10/2025 10:57

We start in December!

Notmyreality · 19/10/2025 10:58

No, because it’s October.

dancingthrough · 19/10/2025 11:50

I like to start thinking in October, but tend not to execute anything until end of November.

Hoppinggreen · 19/10/2025 10:53

Mate, its bloody october

Exactly!!

I can’t imagine many start this early
except maybe on mumsnet

SummerEve · 19/10/2025 12:10

Why do people make such a meal of things on here? As others have said, it’s October. Relax and try to remember what Christmas is really about.

AgentPidge · 19/10/2025 12:13

No. Apart from making the cake, I don't start thinking about it or planning until after Remembrance Sunday.

Beansandcheesearegood · 19/10/2025 12:13

Same as others, the years I start early I end up spending more and buys tuff for the sake of it. End of November we'll do a big amazon etc shop and then town for a few bits and done!

HRchatter · 19/10/2025 12:17

No
I usually buy everything in Black Friday or whatever its called
Have i missed it ?

Purplecatshopaholic · 19/10/2025 12:19

Say what now? What TF can you possibly need to do for Christmas that starts in October? Get Halloween and Bonfire Night out of the way, then maybe think about it…

dontforgetme · 19/10/2025 12:37

I have purchased 2 things so far, one for my mom and one for my son because I spotted them in the sale. I will get cracking after pay day next week. Seen a couple Lego bits in the sale on the Smyths website and have a few things favourited on Etsy. I’m currently watching the first Gavin and Stacey Christmas special!

Mrsmch123 · 19/10/2025 12:38

Nope not yet...will pick a date in November and go do one big toy shop. I then wrap it the same day and pop it up the loft. Ready to bring down Xmas eve🙃

ComfortFoodCafe · 19/10/2025 12:39

No, i do over 6 months to spread tje costs.

Parker231 · 19/10/2025 12:40

Christmas is in December - spend a few hours doing online shopping for all the presents. Food and drinks ordered online - straightforward, uncomplicated and totally stress free.

Chemenger · 19/10/2025 12:42

You will get a better response in the dedicated Christmas section where they fret about Christmas all year round.

ladyamy · 19/10/2025 12:42

Me, because it’s October

Shr3dding · 19/10/2025 12:43

Gawd, no, are you mad? There's a whole topic for Christmas crazies, you'll find like minded people there

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 19/10/2025 12:44

Nope, will start in December. Why do people spend 3 months preparing for 1 day??

TheScottishPlay · 19/10/2025 12:48

FancyCatSlave · 19/10/2025 10:56

Never start until after 5 Nov. It doesn’t take that long!

Me too! Used to do my Early Learning Cente and Toys R Us order when DS was in bed after the fireworks.
He's 21 now so it's a cash transfer and some stocking bits!

kalokagathos · 19/10/2025 12:50

I start 3 days before so plenty of time including hosting Xmas eve and Xmas day and cooking from scratch 😅🤣

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 19/10/2025 13:25

Ive booked the Asda Christmas delivery and got a present list, bought 1 present, that’s all so far.
Buying another couple of presents end Oct and getting the turkey/pigs in blankets/christmas cake/yule log orders in then too.
I need to think what i want as my Christmas presents and i have no clue
