When did you stop using the bassinet part of the pram?

DD is 3mo and does not like going in the bassinet anymore. I don’t use the pram for more than two hours a time so would it be okay to use her car seat instead? I feel like this is young but she tries to pull herself up and cries, I think it’s because she can’t see me properly.

Do you not have a pram seat? If so just use that perhaps?!

I thought that they were for 6mo+?

What pram have you got and is DD closer to 3 or 4 months? Depending on your pushchair seat it might be worth trying that on the recline if it’s suitable.
my DD hated being lay flat and she went into her pushchair seat on recline at almost 4 months and was far happier.

I moved my daughter at 4/5months because she hated the bassinet so much. She could sit so it was okay

Some pram seats are from birth as long as they're reclined or in a similar shape as the car seat. I had to swap my DS into the pram seat at 8 weeks because he was over the weight limit for his bassinet. He managed fine lying flat in it x

I've been using the car seat on the pram for a week now for the same reason. She is 4.5 months so hopefully it's just a transition phase until she can sit in the regular pram seat. Some people drive long commutes to nursery or wherever every day and the baby is fine in the car seat so I'm not really worried about it for an hour or so walking around the park.

They'd definitely be better in the pram seat rather than a car seat even if it is rated as 6mth plus.
Which pram is it?
I'm assuming it has a bucket type seat. You might be able to put a cushion or blanket into the seat to make it a little less deep, or angle it better.

I never used the car seat except in the car. I still find it really weird any time I see someone doing it. We moved to the pram seat about 5 months. They have different levels of reclining and ours you could switch between forward facing and parent facing.

3 months is pretty little still, I'd be trying to push through the crying and keep her lying flat as long as possible

My second was about 2 weeks old when I swapped the bassinet for the seat. She hated the bassinet. She was fine in the seat and it was a lie flat

I very used mine. I used the baby carrier and the car seat. Mine had reflux and hated laying flat.

TheCurious0range · 28/09/2025 08:35

I couldn't remember so just checked photos and DS was in the pram bit reclined by 4.5 months, I remember him getting too long for the bassinet. We only ever used the car seat attachment on the pram for quick things eg stopped at a shop on the way home and ds was asleep but got generally going out and about.

Moved ds at 9 weeks as he hated lying flat

i moved my dc over at just over 3 months - would scream in bassinet so ended up having to hold her and push the pram which was less safe than putting her in the proper pram seat. Possibly silent reflux, possibly nosy baby. I only used the car seat for quick journeys around the shops / or actually in the car. If they can hold their head up quite well the pram seats are safe and they’re strapped in - you can recline most of them to so I would start with the slightest incline then pop down to flat if fall asleep.
