What does your preschool DC wear to ballet club?

Have just signed my 3.5yo twins up for ballet club (one of them likes to twirl around the house enthusiastically!) and I was surprised to see the outfits the little girls come to class in. They’ve all got ballet shoes, tights, tutus, leotards and wrap around cardigans. I really don’t want to spend a fortune buying a specific outfit for both of them for one hour a week. There doesn’t seem to be a strict dress code in the intro pack.

(I need to grab the teacher really but DH has taken them to the last two classes and he forgot both times!)

We had an own brand tutu ballet dress from Sainsbury's that didnt cost a lot, but helped her feel the part. Ballet shoes are very cheap on Amazon. Some children just wore those dresses with the built in tutu skirts.

We also had Sainsbury’s stuff. It’s really good, and I bet your kids end up wearing it fir more than an hour a week.

Mine wore the appropriate leotard, wrap over cardigan and ankle socks at that age for ballet class. She danced ballet till she was 17.
It depends on the teacher as to how strict they are, dd’s used to keep a “library” of uniform the girls had grown out of, so I very rarely had to buy new, and I never grudges putting it into the library when it was outgrown as we all benefitted from it

For toddler ballet my DD wore a pink shirt and a pink tutu skirt. Some others wore leotards.

You really need to ask the teacher.

Some classes don’t care what the children wear.In my experience, the better ones do! Ballet shoes are completely necessary, and a leotard and skirt too. Ballet tights are very fragile and ladder like anything, ballet socks are better for this age. The caradigan is not necessary, it only tends to be worn for the first few minutes.

But definitely ask the teacher before you buy stuff off Amazon incase there is a uniform and the leotard needs to be a specific style and colour.

Decathlon have lots of good value ballet and gymnastics leotards etc.

For us, under threes is anything comfortable and quite a mix. From three there is a uniform, but like a PP, there's lots of clothing and shoes handed down, so I've only occasionally had to buy new. The cardis could probably do for about ten children before they start looking old!

Even if it is not strictly in the dress code, it’s quite frequent for parents to dress their children that way in baby ballet, part of it is just the cuteness really.
As pp have said it can be surprisingly cheap, as you have twins I would have a look on Amazon for deals on multipacks also
