Mum of Girl & Boy

I’m a Mum of a girl and a boy. Aged 3 & 1.

I feel blessed to be able to experience parenting both a daughter and son and watching their little bond grow has been the most special thing I’ve ever witnessed.

I am one of 3 myself, the oldest with a brother and sister younger than me. I am very close to both, but more so my sister. My husband is one of 3, 3 boys.

I can’t help but feel like I want a 3rd child, to be able to experience the same sex sibling bond as parents and for my children. I would love to watch my son with a brother or my daughter with a sister. But of course all families are different and there’s no gaurentee they will even get on as they grow up! Will my son and daughter be as close when they’re older, despite being opposite sex’s. Am I mad to want a 3rd and am I worrying for no reason? If they only ever have eachother id love them to be as close as I am to my siblings.

That's a pretty poor reason to want a third child, especially as in your vision it sounds like one of them is left out as the other two develop a special bond...

Their sex has nothing to do with their closeness or not
what you’re saying isn’t really a strong reason to have a third child to be honest
you can’t do it to replicate your own childhood
enjoy the children you do have

So you want one child to have a less close bond with their siblings?
