You can install Spotify on tablets, is this too like a smartphone? DC6 uses the Spotify kids app this way (there's no social media apps on it & he hasn't worked out how to use Chrome)

FYI you can see videos like Tiktok and Youtube content on Spotify. Lots of people (parents) have been asking Spotify for an option to switch this off but I don’t think they have put one in so far.

Apple music may be a better bet if you are concerned, this is music only. I don’t know about amazon music.

There is a kid's spotify app, which doesn't have SM content.. It's a bit limited but you can create playlists from the adult one and share them with the child.

When my son younger we got him a Mighty. It's a small screen-free unit that let's you create Spotify playlists through a phone app (I used my phone to set this up as he didn't have one) but once you sort those you can use without phone. It's quite good, just takes a small bit of setting up at the start - like everything!

My 11yo dd finds the Spotify kids account a bit babyish now. You can make playlists on an adult Spotify and share to the kids account which might be a reasonable compromise.

Could you het him a phone but just block all the other apps?
