When was the last time you got out of bed in the morning well rested and because you wanted to.

I'm just too exhausted. I haven't had a lie in in years.

I'm parenting alone and all my childcare favours from friends are used on looking after them when I'm working as I'm full time and doing shift work.

My 7 yr old will not play alone, will not watch a screen for more than 15mins and wants to be with me chatting all the time.

I'm just done in and can't remember the last time I felt rested. Any one else want to moan with me?

This morning. But then DS is 42 and left home a long time ago. It's horrifying how quickly the years pass, sometimes I feel I'd love him to be back home again.
The only things that wake me up too early now are the cats.

Probably about 4.5 years ago - I have a nearly 4 year old daughter and the insomnia started during pregnancy. Just about to give birth to my second any day so not expecting sleep to get better any time soon. It’s grim. But it’s not forever.

I know the days are long but the years are short 🥺

I would work on your daughter being more independent. Set an alarm for her, so she knows what time she can come to you. Practice during the daytime. Gradually increasing the time she has to play independently. Give her lot's of praise, a sticker chart and a promise of a reward if you have to!

I've had insomnia since I was 13, so probably not since then 😅 I have a 3 year old who thinks 5am is wake up time too😭

Just to say both my kids are SEN, one likes to party late the other is an early bird that once eyes are open, they're open for the day.

With no other issues I'd be working on a morning routine with your DC and pushing independent play until X hour.

Almost 20yrs ago. Lone parent.
I always wonder what it must be like to be able to think clearly and not drag myself through the day. No, HRT and exercise doesn't help with it, although I do it. Blood tests all good. I'm simply wrung out mentally after so many years.

Feels like forever to be honest. My DS is four and three quarters. So probably when I was pregnant with him.

Massive sympathy for your situation though; it sounds exhausting.

This morning but my youngest is 17

I had pregnancy insomnia from conception and then an early waking child. She has just turned 11 and for the first time I have found myself waking up before her. It’s amazing but feels very odd.

4 year old doesn’t come out of his room in the morning until he sees the sunshine on his Yoto player at 7:30. Today being Sunday, I set it to come up at 8:30 instead and woke at 8:30am when he came through. After breakfast I returned to bed to read and laze about for an hour while he played with his toys.

I’d start working on her independence now and insist on time to yourself. I’d honestly go spare if my child pestered me to play the second my eyes opened in the morning. That’s just not an option.
