Husband wants me to look and smell better at home because of his daughter

I'm a 25 year old woman who's now a stepmom to a 13 year old girl.
At home, I'm very comfortable. I do active things and I don't love the AC, so I smell like sweat a lot of the time.
I don't my makeup nor hair when staying at home. I don't wear jewelry at home. Half the time I wear a tank top and shorts at home.
My stepdaughter started copying my look, and my husband isn't happy.
He's saying I need to start looking and smelling while at home. That being a woman in the home, it's natural for his daughter to look at me like a maternal figure.

I'm such an amateur to the whole mom thing so I want to hear from other moms.

2 different issues - how you look and how you smell.

how you look - personal choice as long as your clothes are relatively clean and tidy
how you smell - you use deodorant, you are active, as long as you start and finish the day clean and not stinky then the occasional whiff might be acceptable. Do you use antiperspirant deodorant? Is it effective? Are you washing regularly? Are your clothes generally clean? Washing clothes effectively?

There’s no excuse for being smelly for prolonged times and if you are then you need to do something about it, change the products you use, wash your body and clothes more often.

But maybe you don’t smell too bad and you need to change your relationship?

If this is real, which I doubt, and if you are showering and wearing clean clothes and deodorant, you shouldn’t smell. You do however have a husband problem. How old is he?

You need to shower more. I expect the daughter story is him covering it up and trying to be polite instead of saying he's getting grossed out by the smell..

If you wear deodorant, shower up to 4 times a day and still smell, you need to visit a doctor for a health assessment, as that's not normal.

Wearing (clean) shorts and a (clean) tshirt is fine, smelling sweaty is not.

On average, I shower 1 to 4 times a day, depending on the day.

1 to 4 times a day?? I used to do that when I was in my 20's. I'd go to work, go the gym, shower, go work horses, shower, then if I was hanging out with my friends, I'd shower before going to bed.

I was bullied a lot as a teenager for personal hygiene because I'd play with my horses, clean stalls, feed ect. Before school, so as an adult I make a point to not smell. But now that I'm 40, I'm not near as meticulous. I do shower every day, sometimes 2x a day but you realize once you get older most people don't care lol

It sounds like you take care of yourself, be mindful that your step daughter is probably looking up to you..especially if she is copying your look. I don't know how long she's been without a mom, but if her mom isn't in the picture you have to decide if you want to really step up and be that mom and role model.
