Spending ages burping and getting nothing, as soon as I put baby down she is sick, hiccups and is so aggitated for ages!

I am spending so much time trying to burp my baby (4 weeks old), I am talking half hour - 45 minutes and still sometimes nothing, but I know she has trapped wind! I also try and burp in between feeds just to confirm I do not give a whole bottle in one go. I combi feed and also breast feed and burp after breast feeding too. She burps occasionally but the past few days has been more difficult than usual. I spend ages trying to burp her; every position you can think of as well, as soon as I lay her down after trying for so long, she is agitated, I try again, nothing, lay her back down and is then usually sick (only a little bit), but sometimes is sick 2/3 times and then gets the hiccups. She grunts and makes a lot of noises like she is uncomfortable. I feel like I am doing something really wrong!
I am spending so much time trying to burp her and her being aggitated to the point she won’t sleep for hours, and then before you know it it’s time for me to feed her again. Last night was horrendous, she was up at 1am, managed to sleep for an hour and then couldn’t get her back down until midday today! She’s spending more time awake and aggitated, fussy etc and I have no idea what to do! I feel like I am running out of ideas. Even my mum who came over today just to allow me to finally have a shower after days said she has never struggled to burp until she tried today. I just feel useless, I have no idea what to do. She had her bottle about 2 hours ago, is still fussing in her cot, been sick, had hiccups already. I’ve tried absolutely everything and she just doesn’t seem happy. I can’t do anything at the minute, no time to make my dinner because I am having to attend to my baby 24/7 as she will not settle. Please help.

This sounds more like my experience of reflux than trapped wind - maybe have a look at symptoms of reflux and see if any of the advice helps? It’s worth talking to the HV or GP about too, they can give meds to try.

I thought reflux just from reading the title

@Mushaboom is there anything that you did that worked? Any tips or tricks? I’ll try the basics first, if not then I will get an appointment to see the GP Monday asap! Thank you

Agree with others have a chat with HV about reflux.

I will say, and I know this isnt what you want to hear but I could of wrote this about DC1. They were EBF and I could not for the life of me get them to burp and I mean ever. I used to hold then upright trying for 30-40 mins after every feed to try and stop them being sick so much but even then often just lead to grunting when they were down in the cot. It was so so hard but theh eventually grew out of it once the stomach muscles at the gullet strengthen around 6 weeks. It wasnt a magic switch but I remember it just getting better gradually. There was nothing I could do but wait it out but it did get better!

For during the day I would strongly recommend a baby wrap / carrier. You (or someone else) can keep baby upright after feeds for them to sleep and still be able to get on with life like making food etc.
