Would your 2yr old attend a 1pm party?

Is this a strange time for a birthday party to be attended by mostly 1 & 2 yr olds? Are most kids napping at this time?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That’s sad. When will you allow your child to go to parties?

Hahaaahahahaha. Seriously. Parents have enough on their plate without having to attend a gathering of 2 year olds on their very little time off work they have with their kids.

When they're older and are actually aware that there is a party and they can enjoy it, you suck it up.

But at 2? I can't imagine anything worse to do with my weekend than putting up with random overexcited toddlers in one room😂

EndorsingPRActice · 02/07/2026 07:14

With DS no, I'd have said no because he needed naps and would not have enjoyed the party. With DD yes, as she didn't melt down if she missed a nap and loved socialising with other kids. Depends on your baby.

I probably would have made the exception but while thinking what a bloody stupid time for a 2 year olds party.

All the families we knew, 2 year olds would be asleep at that time. Everyone was on a fairly consistent nap schedule.

Mine had stopped napping by 2 but even before then only had an hour tops so definitely wouldn’t have let it stopped me taking her to a party. Sometimes you have to adapt if you still want to actually do stuff

ExplodingSmittens · 02/07/2026 14:15

I probably wouldn’t have taken PFB but might have taken DC2. Not ideal though.

Mine weren’t napping at 2 so this wouldn’t have been a problem.

Same of two of my three, who dropped naps at a year 😭 I have to admit to raging jealousy at people whose toddlers nap 🤣

superspideysense · 02/07/2026 14:24

Just adjust the nap for one day! Party will be fun! Everyone has different schedules so the host probably doing it around theirs and maybe other siblings

Pistachiocake · 02/07/2026 14:25

Fairly typical party time. Some 2 year olds don't nap, some do at different times. Even if you go by people who schedule naps, you're never going to suit everyone.

BravasPatatas · 02/07/2026 14:28

None of mine still napped by the age of 2 so yeah, we’d have gone. When they did nap we’d still have gone, and just hope they had a doze in the car or pushchair on the way to the party. If they didn’t, they’d doze on the way home.

I’d never allow my life to be ruled by naps

Jk987 · 02/07/2026 14:51

I didn’t want to disturb naps when she was that age but plenty of families are more flex or have other children so can’t be rigid.

liveforsummer · 02/07/2026 17:26

I don’t remember ever planning a thing around naps. We got on with our days and dc slept when it was convenient- either in the car or walking to/from somewhere in a buggy. By 2 though naps were mostly avoided where possible or they’d be up so late. Those were the days of manic singing on the car to stop them dropping off

Sorry replying to the wrong person

I would never put life on hold for a nap. But I was never one for a routine. If there was a party to go to we’d be there!

CalmWriter · 02/07/2026 17:46

I don’t think either of my children were still having naps at 2 years old.

At 1 or if still napping at 2, you just change the nap time for that day.

A party full of 1 year olds and my overtired toddler versus me having 2 hours of blissful peace while he naps in his cot? I'll take the latter. The former is my idea of hell.
