I have just found out about the chicken pox vaccine and need to do my own research on it first. What's everyone's thoughts on it please?

So glad we’ve come into line with countries that had the chickenpox vaccine decades ago. I think we downplay illnesses in children here - maybe because presenteeism (at work and school) is prioritised above productivity and health, but we also have poor sick pay. People look back aghast at things like chicken pox parties, but school/nurseries are like a massive chickenpox party for many illnesses. I’d choose vaccine every time. England was excruciatingly slow with offering covid vaccines to children, compared to other countries, don’t offer whooping cough boosters etc. With other age groups we’ve got tighter eligibility and vaccine choice for covid than the USA have got under bloody RFK jr! Shingles is more limited than other countries etc. Glad we are finally offering chickenpox vaccine on NHS.

Good news going forwards, however as with the Men B, vaccine too late for many more, who have had to either go private or not have the vaccines at all, with some becoming very ill. Better late then never I guess.

Same here, and they’ve been exposed many times between them

Same for mine, she was sat cuddling her cousin for hours who came out with chickenpox the next day and still didn’t get it.

I'm hoping Scotland follow suit soon otherwise where we live will become a really bizarre mix (as happened a lot during Covid lockdowns) as we're close to the border
