What do people do when they have cold sores and a baby? I’m constantly getting them when I’m due my period and my son is 7 months old I’m so worried he’s going to contract the virus from me! Any advice would be appreciated.

My children are now in there 20s and neither have cold sores and I used to get them frequently. I take a lysine supplement every day for past 2 years and they have decreased from having every 1-2 months to about once a year. Could be coincidence but I feel it’s helped

Thankyou! I think I’m going to definitely get some tablets from the doctors tomorrow hopefully they can give me something!

You can get l-lysine from Holland and Barrett. I asked my gp for a repeat acyclovir prescription at my 6w pp checkup as I was so worried (it being deadly to newborns, my risk factors being stress, lack of sleep, not eating well...). L-lysine everyday then an acyclovir at first tingle or lump. Huge plus that all these prescriptions have been free!

You can also get l-lysine from Amazon. The tablets are big but have made a massive difference. I have gone down from over 20 cold sores a year (not just around my month but my nose and occasionally near my eyes) to 2 or 3 a year. And even then they are smaller and go quicker.
