Best toys that didn’t exist when you were a kid

What are your favourite kids’ toys that didn’t exist when you were growing up? I often look at the toys my 4 year old has and think “I’d have loooved this as a kid!”

For me balance bikes are incredible. They just weren’t a thing in the 90s. I don’t know when they started to become popular.

Also I would have absolutely loved magnatiles. We have the big ones and the mini travel ones. They are one of my son’s most played with toys.

Yoto mini player- I wouldn’t have loved this so much!

Magnatiles are amazing!

As a kid, I would have loved all the kinetic sand sets that are available now. Sooo satisfying to play with 😀

The quality and range of books I think, yes books existed but the most innovation was holes in the page for the hungry Caterpillar. Now it's all lift the flap and sounds even for older ages but just babies.
And the range of subjects is much wider.
The other one is computer stuff, you've got loads of interactive online ways to learn coding, electronics, even music.

Minecraft blocks.. not the video game, but they make these small magnetic cube blocks with all different designs. Really addictive to put them together and build things with. Every adult that comes around to play with my son ends up quite enjoying playing with them... (Like magnetiles you do need a lot though..)

All the science toys and sets + all the coding toys. STEM toys just didn't really exist back then.

Surprise box toys. I don't like these now, but I know I would have been addicted to them as a kid. Actually glad they didn't exist.

Yes to kinetic sand, it’s genuinely enjoyable to play with.

@NJLX2021what are surprise box toys? I always loved a Kinder egg or a £1 lucky bag when I was a kid. Is it like those?
