Does this look like the start of a cold sore on my 1yr old?!

Hi all,
DD is 1 and attends nursery… This has popped up this morning and I’m having a slight panic.

Does this look like a forming cold sore?
If so, any experienced mumma’s know how to handle this going forward if she does have them? 😬
The only way she would have caught I can imagine is via nursery!

My little girl had a spot liked this recently and I thought it was a cold sore (she’s six and never had one before) but it turned out to be impetigo. If it’s impetigo you’ll know in a couple of days xxx

It could be the start of Hand, Foot and Mouth, which is a herpes virus too and looks similar. There will also be a lot more toddlers with HFM than with cold sores.

I immediately thought impetigo too. Does it get wet and yellow and crusty ?
