Nursery images of toddler in nappies

Hello, just wanted to get opinions. My toddler's nursery use a system called tapestry to share images and all the parents can download and have access. They have shared images of her in just her nappy enjoying water play but im not sure i feel comfortable with this considering parents can download, and its not really controlled.

has anyone ever come across this before? Or would you find a problem with this?

Perfectly normal. She's only wearing a nappy because it's damn hot today and they're playing with water. They're taking photos to show you she's having fun.

Yourethebeerthief · 20/06/2025 19:12

What else would she be wearing for water play though? You could send in a rash vest and ask for her to wear it.

If you’re not comfortable with the images I would change your permissions. I’m not familiar with the app but other apps allow images to be sent to all parents for group things and also images sent just to you. So you can tweak your permissions. Totally up to you.

This. You are completely over reacting.

Did you ask for her to be fully clothed during water play? What agreement did you sign with regards to photos? Are the photos just of her or other kids? Our nursery uses tapestry and if they've just updated about our child only we can see if, if it's a more general class update then other parents can't see.

ScaryM0nster · 20/06/2025 19:20

Nappies have more coverage than swim nappies do and lots of nursery age children wear just those in public swimming pools.

more coverage than many small
child shorts.

legoplaybook · 20/06/2025 19:21

So she's as dressed as you'd expect a baby to be at the pool or beach?

YellowHatt · 20/06/2025 19:22

Change your permissions. You can choose for them not to share photos.

Stripeyanddotty · 20/06/2025 19:23

I would change permissions.

Overthebow · 20/06/2025 19:23

We have Tapestry at my DDs school, I can’t view other children’s photos on it.

I think its just because her top half is exposed. Ive heard of so many crazy stories of perverted people and i guess its just made me super paranoid. 😥

It’s a personal choice OP. You can change your permissions to request that these photos are only sent to you in the app, not to all parents.

Or you can send her with a rash vest to wear for water play.

legoplaybook · 20/06/2025 20:18

Honestly I think you are over reacting and being weird about a baby's tummy being on show, if one of the other parents wants to gawp at babies they could go and buy a packet of pampers.

But if you don't feel comfortable just ask the nursery not to include your child in group photos.

ScaryM0nster · 20/06/2025 20:20

Most of Europe just puts young children in swim bottoms.

The baby on the pampers packet is not the OP’s baby.

If it’s reasonable not to want your child’s images on social media then the OP is also reasonable to not want photos of her baby sent to all parents wearing just a nappy. I’m sure she’ll change permissions now.

Shoemadlady · 20/06/2025 20:26

They will only be sharing your child’s photos with you surely? Was it a group photo?

witwatwoo · 20/06/2025 20:30

You’re being ridiculous

Pinty · 20/06/2025 20:30

I think it's fine. It's only available to people who have children at the nursery. But if you are uncomfortable tell the nursery you don't want any photos of your child taken
It will mean though that you won't see photos of her day

Whyx · 20/06/2025 20:31

It's completely ok and normal to request that your child's photos be shared with you only and that DC isn't in any group pictures. There's kids at my son's nursery with this set up and the nursery staff are used to it.
I understand where you are coming from but it is more than likely the picture sharing is totally safe in this instance if that puts your mind at ease. Going forward just change your permissions and you can stop worrying.

NC28 · 20/06/2025 20:53

As others have said, you can change your permissions.

However, I think it’s totally normal that they stripped the babies down today, with the weather. She’ll have been more comfortable than half the country!

FWIW, I think your anxiety over paedophiles does sound out of control. They walk amongst us, no question about that. And they do often infiltrate in areas where you’d never think they would. I hate them and if one of them ever harmed my child I’d ensure it was the last thing they ever did. Truly, it would be their last day on this earth, so I get your reservations completely.

However…your child needs to exist in public. A person at the shop could be having those depraved thoughts, AI can alter any image (in any state of undress) to suit a paedophile’s desire. You could hand her over to a family member for a play date and they harm her when you’re gone.

Definitely be diligent and mindful of who’s around you, but remember that most people are good.
