Measles in Europe - early MMR for 11 month old?

Hi there

going to Cyprus soon with 11 month old and saw this today:

Measles holiday warning as cases rise in Europe https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c706y4jr95lo

from quick google it seems like the risk, given we live in London, is comparable at home to what it would be like on holiday. Cypusnhas had an increase in outbreaks this year, similar to the rest of Europe and the UK. Our hols would mostly be chilling by the pool and a few day trips. Too young for kiddie clubs etc.

do you think should push for slightly earlier MMR, as she would have it a couple of weeks after coming back anyway? The reason I’m a little hesitant is that she was poorly with Covid in past few weeks and currently teething. Poor thing needs a break from feeling cruddy! Plus I’m expecting our overstretched gp surgery to be awkward about it.

thoughts?

Measles warning to holidaymakers as cases rise across Europe

As the summer holiday season gets going, families are being warned of measles outbreaks in many popular European destinations, with vaccination rates in the UK still far below what experts advise.

Talk to your GP, but the current guidance is that MMR before 12 months is basically treated like it hasn't happened and you are encouraged to have the 12 month dose and the toddler booster regardless.

I'd be surprised if you could get it earlier.

I tried to push for earlier with DS for his second one when we had an immunisation drive here in the Midlands. That's with an adult living in our household who is immunosuppressed and hasn't had any. They wouldn't do it and compromised by getting me in urgently to have a booster as there was only one on my medical records.

Thanks, both! Good to know. Sorry @Chocolateorange22 to hear how difficult it has been for you.
