Baby has learnt to sit up but can't actually stay sitting.

My baby (6.5 months) has just learnt to sit herself up but she can't actually stay sitting for longer than maximum 30 seconds before she topples. More often than not, banging her head and crying.

I can't get anything done because the second I put her down, she's sitting up and falling over and hurting herself. She also cries when I stop her and lie her back down or put her on her tummy instead. She just wants to attempt sitting all the time.

The only solution I can think of is strapping her into her sit me up seat, but I know it's not great for her to be in there for too long.

This is just more of a vent because there probably isn't anything I can do about this. It's just so frustrating and I'm also worried about her properly hurting herself.

I remember this stage. Surround her with cushions! The more she gets herself sitting up the sooner she'll be stable - it'll come quickly.

You prop her up in a pile of cushions or use one of those soft donut things.
She'll get the hang of it.

It doesn’t last - every time she sits up she’s strengthening her muscles. Just surround her with cushions and stuff, she won’t hurt herself.

So so many pillows haha. She just always manages to fall where there is the least/no cushioning!

She’s practicing for toddlerhood. They always find that one thing that isn’t baby proofed. How humans survive toddlerhood I’ll never understand.

Yes, they do that 😂Just make it as safe and comfy as you can.

It’s just like that for a while. Then there’s the painful stage of them wanting to walk everywhere with you bent double holding their hands. That’s babies for you.

Whatever you dont try to stop her sitting up, she needs to strengthen those muscles!

This should keep you entertained, from TFI Friday in the 90s ‘Baby Left, Baby Right?’ a game where you had to guess which way the baby would topple
