Best once a day sun cream for kids.

Looking for your best recommendations for high protection once a day sunscreens for kids, looking for something I can put on my 2 and 4 year old before nursery and school and excluding any water play they should be protected all day. Neither have particularly sensitive skin so this isn’t too much a concern. Bonus points if it doesn’t stain clothes and isn’t too sticky!

I use the boots soltan one as it's reasonably cheap. It probably does stain a little but I wouldn't say it's sticky. Don't bother with the spray bottles though as they always get clogged.

Ultrasun is the one I use , the ( sport) gel isn’t sticky at all, and I’ve not found stains on clothing , you are looking at £40-£50 for a big bottle , but does last 2 of us for a whole week though

Should stress a week abroad in 30 degree + heat so applying a lot fairly regularly

We've always used Boots "Once" - I don't think it's particularly sticky and never noticed it staining.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Particularly instrested in the ultra sun one, I like the sound of the gel. Will give it a try. Thanks @bugalugs45

I always used ultrasun back in the day.

Apksbdv · 15/05/2025 19:21

I found the Aldi one to be good, I do reapply on shoulders and face just to be sure though

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 15/05/2025 19:23

I use the Malibu clear protect spf50 one, about 6 quid in b&m. Use it on DD for school and for me as I burn really quickly, and it's been fine for both of us.

It does leave pale yellow marks around arms and collar though, especially if you don't let it dry completely before getting dressed.

I use ultrasun - cream not gel as I have read the gel does stain but cream doesn’t. I haven’t actually tested this though!

Poonu · 15/05/2025 19:24

I'm pretty sure they need to be reapplied (yes I'm aware they advertise as one a day)

FionnulaTheCooler · 15/05/2025 19:28

The only one I've found that seems to be genuinely once a day is the P20 one but it is a bugger for staining clothes.

DressDilemma · 15/05/2025 19:54

We use Ultrasun.

Snoodley · 15/05/2025 20:28

P20 stains awfully, but it's super thick and I can believe it lasts 10hrs.

We use Boots once. I find the spray or roll on are best for avoiding stains.
