Looks like my 2 year old GS might have chickenpox and my DD only gave birth late Friday...
I'm not worried about the toddler but has anyone got any advice about the newborn?
NHS guidelines say avoid contact but that is impossible..He already cuddled his baby brother yesterday. He was slightly snotty and grotty for a few days before the birth.
Will they give the baby the vaccine?
My DD has had CP as a child..
Thank you

Hi my son developed chicken pox when my daughter was newborn the GP said if she got more than 10 spots we had to get her checked as it can be dangerous for a baby. That was 17 years ago so advice may have moved on but I felt I should pass that to you. Hope the baby is doing ok

Chicken box can be extremely serious in newborns. I would urge your family to seek medical attention straight away. Hopefully as your dd has had chicken pox there will be antibodies to mitigate the acute implications of the infection.

Thank you.. baby is being extremely looked after by midwives and Bristol Childrens Hospital has been in contact with advice ..
I'm an X children's nurse who's only seen the worst case scenarios so panicked a bit.. he's my grandson but my DD is following advice and will seek help as soon as she thinks he's off colour..
He's very happy and content..no snotty nose or temperature.. just very spotty...
And thank you for the advice about shingles...
I'll let my DD.. well
