What would you do? 8 week vaccine and what to wear at night

Hi,

My daughter is 8 weeks and had her vaccines this morning. She had all three doses of paracetomol also.

It's now time for bed and her temp is ranging between 37.6 and 37.9. Called 111 and spoke to GP who said to give a 4th dose if she went 38 or higher. We plan on waking every hour to check. However, what on earth do I dress her in. GP said one layer, but what sort of layer!?

Our room is currently 20. She is currently in a short sleeve vest, and a 0.2 tog sleeping bag, with arms out. She would usually wear short sleeve vest, 1 tog sleeping back with her arms in (it's a swaddle bag where you can decide to have arms in or out).

One second I'm worried she will get cold, and the next that she will overheat. She can't really sleep unless swaddled.

Her temp was previously taken when she was just in nappy, but I figure their temp naturally lowers when sleeping.

Option 1: 0.2 with shirt sleeve vest - arms out
Option 2: 0.2, shortsleeve, arms in
Option 3: 1 tog, nappy, arms in
Option 4: 1 tog, nappy, arms out
Option 5: Baby grow on its own
Option 6: short sleeve vest and babygrow

Help is much much appreciated!!

How long ago was her last dose?

I would have thought dress her as normal unless you can get her to sleep with her arms free to make it easier to take her temperature

5.30pm so 6 hours ago. So we are now in no man's land - will she keep the temp at bay on her own or does she need calpol. The GP said only give next dose if she is at 38. She is a naturally warm baby. Thank you for replying!

Put her in her swaddle with her arms in if that's how she sleeps best, in a short sleeve vest. Sounds like it's going to be wakeful night anyway may as well dress her how she likes so she has a chance to get some rest

Thank you! Would you keep at her usual 1 tog or go down to a 0.2 tog?

DS did this and took to hospital as instructed re doses allowed. They gave another dose calpol, examined him and sent home. He was fine. Give more calpol and dress her lightly and don’t swaddle. I slept on matress on floor beside cot and he was fine. I think it’s a precaution in case of febrile convulsions.

Sorry what did you do? I would have put her in the one tog unless her temp was really high. My first baby used to go to 40 degrees for any vaccine / cold / hurt elbow and still does at 5 years old. My second baby doesn't. Takes a bit of getting used to.

How is baby doing?

An update - baby was fine and slept really well. We went for option 2 in the end. My baby naturally runs warm so figured it was better to dress cooler as she was more likely to overheat x
