Leaving 11 day old baby to attend beauty appointment

It’s my birthday tomorrow, I have an 11 day old baby who I’m enjoying very much but I am struggling a bit with the transition from 1 to 2. I always get natural looking classic lash extensions every few weeks as I have barely any lashes of my own and it saves me time on a morning (which I could do with at the moment). The lady who does them is 5 minutes away from me and has had availability come up for tomorrow but I feel a bit worried about leaving my baby even though he would be at home with dad and 3 year old brother. Would you say it’s too soon for beauty appointments? Baby is formula fed so could be fed by dad. It took me a long time before I was confident leaving my first. Just wondering others opinions on this?

It’s fine! Enjoy x

I think only you can answer that. It’s not right or wrong as long as baby is cared for.

It”s fine.

You're not leaving them on their own, you're leaving them with their parent, its 100% fine!!

coffeeandflipflops · 14/03/2025 11:44

Go and enjoy it. Children and their dad will be fine. 🥰

Sunat45degrees · 14/03/2025 11:45

Completely fine.

Thatsenoughadulting · 14/03/2025 11:45

Absolutely it's fine. I think more mums should take some time for themselves rather than just being a mum 24/7. I'm sure your DH/DP is more than capable of looking after his own child.

UpUpUpU · 14/03/2025 11:46

100% OK. Your baby has 2 equal parents so don’t feel at all bad. Enjoy!

mousem · 14/03/2025 11:55

Thanks all, this has re-assured me. Just realised mentioning my birthday was a bit random, this was just because DP encouraged me to go and do something for myself since I wasn’t bothered about doing anything for my birthday.

Go and enjoy the pamper

Ilovelowry · 14/03/2025 11:57

Enjoy the time on your own op.

When my DD was three weeks old I needed a few hours away from it all. I drove to our nearest town and slept in the car in the John Lewis carpark. I remember the relief I felt that I didn't have to be 'on'.

Ilovelowry · 14/03/2025 11:57

(DD was safe at home with her father!)

Pastelhp · 14/03/2025 11:58

Enjoy Op! Maybe even go and treat yourself to a nice coffee too - go the whole hog! Have a great birthday 🙂

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 14/03/2025 12:02

Enjoy it OP! I look back wishing I’d had chance to do things for me. I definitely would if I did it again! Enjoy and happy birthday, and congratulations on your baby!

Sinkintotheswamp · 14/03/2025 12:03

It's fine. Go and have a breather.

ChicaWowWow · 14/03/2025 12:19

Go, you will feel so good for it! Baby will be fine, and might sleep the whole time 🥰

Tallulahbelle1038 · 14/03/2025 12:35

Omg do it!!!!! And enjoy every minute of it, without guilt. Take the chance to have a nap! Baby is safe with their parent at home!

MammaTo · 14/03/2025 12:47

Completely fine.

Id even drag it out a bit and take myself for a coffee in peace or a mooch around the shops.

HereintheloveofChristIstand · 14/03/2025 12:49

Would her dad be bothered about leaving her alone with you?
errrrm NO.
she is with her other equal parent. Go and enjoy yourself and happy birthday

Bleachbum · 14/03/2025 13:15

Your question makes me wonder if you ever have any time away from the baby? It’s really healthy and necessary for you to be able to get a breather often. My DH would take the baby out for a walk in the pram for an hour or so. Being on high alert for your baby 24/7 is really exhausting as even when they are sleeping, you never properly relax.

Definitely go get your lashes done. Anything to make yourself feel more human during these first few weeks!
