Hairwash - how often?!

A trivial matter really but it occurred to me to ask how often you wash your lo's hair? I am a bad mum that only washes ds and dd's hair once a week. This is perhaps okay for a boy who hates hair wash(he's nearly 4). But my dd is 18mo and if she's going to have longer hair am I going to need to plan for frequent hair washes and conditioning treatments like I've seen some of my friends do with their older dds?! (We are really bad, as we've had the same bottle of shampoo for some years!!!)

I was dd1's hair once a week as she's such a mare about having it washed, she's 5. I was dd2's hair every 2 days or so, she's 19m.

When they are young - up to the age of approx 9/10. once a week. After that twice a week for the next few years. Then every 2/3 days I get DD who is just 14!

I think i have oisted Elizabeth - DS is 21/2 and has never (yes that's right - never) had his hair washed. You wouldn't tell though as his hair doesn't look dirty or smell yucky. We don't use soap much either. This started when he was tiny as the word was not to use products and to be honest we never really got out of that although sometimes he has Mr Matey bubbles. He goes swimming every so often and we spend a long time in the showers after that (he loves the showers at the pool more than the pool). I was my hair about every third day.

We keep the boy's hair really short so I can honestly say we have never actually "washed" his hair, it gets wet when he has a bath or shower but it doesn't actually get soaped up or anything.

He doesn't really seem to care one way or the other about his hair so I just run the clippers over it when it gets a bit long.

my dd has fine. striaght shoulder length hair, she is 6. I was always at pains to keep it washed every other day.

Depends on your childs hair type. I have decided that my dd only need hers washed twice a week, esp as she has it tied up alot.

once or twice a week

ds hates it and dd's takes ages and ages to rinse
