A tent or a fort.

A tea set, especially one that allows teapot to be filled with water so can be used in the bath too.

Toy kitchen or toy food (wooden or fabric) there are some really good and varied kits out there, Ikea used to offer some too.

Sylvanian family animals are always cute too!

Melissa and Doug have some nice doll houses and farms, shleich plastic animals (spelling might be off!), my preschooler would also spend ages playing with marble run toys and duplo Lego. Three is such a lovely age for so many fun toys. Teens are way harder to please :)

Thanks so much for the suggestions 🙏 Did anyone go for a bike at this age?

I'd go for a balance bike if she doesn't have one already. Or a scooter, trike or pedal go kart all great at this age.

CrispyCrumpets · 22/01/2025 10:33

Non vehicle things my two have liked at this age:

Tea set
Cars and garage/track
Mud kitchen for outside or play kitchen for inside
Till and shop stuff
Sand and water table
Play sink with working tap
Kinetic sand
Play dough
Binoculars
Wooden train set
Duplo/stickle bricks type toys for building
Simple jigsaws
Simple turn taking games like those from Orchard games
Mr Pop
Mr Potato Head
Playmobil
Fire engines/fire man dress up
Doctors kit and overcoat

A good quality balance bike or scooter is a great gift if she doesn't have them. (We did good quality secondhand ones as gifts, but I know that's not for everyone.)

DD2 at not quite 3 has had a couple of tries on our dinky pedal bike, but she needs to be confident on the balance bike and the pedal bike needs to be both very small and very lightweight to be manageable at just 3 (little bit more leeway if the child is tall for her age).

Scooter
accessories for scooter (bell)
duplo
magnetic tiles
cash register

Aside from what's already been mentioned...

A yoto story player

One of those heads of hair for hairdressing play, in case yours is like mine and loves to play with your hair and you can't stand it would prefer them not to do that. We got an Elsa one from the entertainer and it's been a big hit

Amazing. This is so helpful. Thanks everyone! Head is so fried with two that I can barely think so this is a brilliant resource 😅

We got a wooden ice cream set for Xmas that has been played with every day since they got it. I’m pretty sure it’s a Melissa and Doug one.

Second this. My 2 and 4 year old both play with this all the time.
