Kids don’t want to leave London..

I want to move out of London as I just don’t feel it is safe for my kids growing up here (gangs etc) but they don’t want to leave. Has anyone done it before despite kids not wanting to and did they eventually settle and enjoy the new place?

Possibly a mutual exchange however my council also moves people out of London so there’s that option too

Joe about a move to a smaller city? If you look North you’ll find great rail links to London, diverse cities and many opportunities for teen and beyond. Wherever you consider, really face your eyes open about school options, and opportunities for your teens - and how independent they can be. Good luck with your plotting.

You're the adult and it's your choice, but you're also a parent and your choice should still put the needs of your child first. It sounds like that's what you're doing anyway. If you truly think it's best for your child, then don't feel bad about leaving even if they're not keen. I would have some further conversations with your children, not specifically about moving but about how they feel about living in London vs towns etc. Really research where you're moving too and spend spend some extended time in the area, as someone who moved a lot for similar reasons I found the grass isn't always greener... I wasted a lot of time and money!

Sorry not looking to move north. My council do a seaside scheme so that would be the option they move people out of London to the coast so that’s where I would be looking at and I’m familiar with the areas I’m considering, I ran it by the kids before I look into it seriously to see what they thought.
