Feel really low and worried for my 7 week old. We've been in and out of hospital due to aspiration pneumonia and him catching many other viral infections. According to doctors he's aspirating milk into his right lungs, they're still trying to find the cause.

Does anyone have any personal experiences ? How was your baby diagnosed through the NHS?

Bump. As I have no advice at all but hopefully someone will come along with some. Xxxx

No advice here either: I hope they find a cause and that it’s something straightforward like severe reflux or milk allergy. Sending good wishes.

Has your baby had an x Ray to rule out a diaphragmatic hernia?

Nothing useful, but offering hugs. There's nothing I can say with more expertise that the doctors looking after your baby.

It sounds like a really tough start to your family life together, and I'm not suprised you're feeling low: it's not really how you imagine your first Christmas with the baby, is it?

Are they spending a lot of time in NICU / SCBU? It's a funny place to be!

Have you had access to any emotional support via the hospital? Sometimes there are counsellors and psychologists attached to the NICU wards. If not, it may be worth reaching out to your health visitor for perinatal mental health support for you.

Really hoping your little ones gets stronger and this us all a dim memory next Christmas!

My lad was in and out with breathing troubles. He had a collapsed lung at birth and it's always been his Achilles heal.

We got more confident in when he needed to go to hospital and when we could manage at home. For those times in hospital we were experts in having a bag packed and prepped.

He's 13.

Hang in here.

He's not in NICU, we're currently at home doctors have always waved him off saying he's alert and gaining weight. We've gone hospital about 4/5 times and been admitted everytime. The only test they've got is an x-ray and tube oesophagram (this showed a potential unsafe swallow but they're not sure). He's currently 8 weeks old and weighs 6kg, very alert and happy but just always hissing and very obviously working hard to breath (rib retractions etc)
