Baby does not like tummy time

Hi all,

My 4 month old really does not like tummy time. She is a very active baby, loves being on her back grabbing her toes, loves her sit up play chair but tummy time.. she just lays there with her head on the mat, not doing anything. We've tried with a tummy roll, and she tries a little but gets bored very quickly and lays her head on it. She's holding her head all by herself now, so strengthening her neck is not an issue, but I feel like her arms could be a little stronger. I don't know.

Anyone else experienced baby not taking to tummy time, or have any advice on arm strengthening if that is even a thing? (first time mum 😊)

DS used to "crawl" on his back. I suppose by wiggling his bum.

I love your husband. If in doubt with DS, I always used to think "what did they do in the stone age?"
Edited to add: he survived

We use that a lot! And it's safe to say, it has put our minds at ease quite a few times 😂

DD hated it and I felt so guilty. Then I read that carrying them upright on your shoulder builds the same muscles and that's basically how I always held her. I think it's wrong the way they make out your baby will be underdeveloped if you don't! DD was always fine :)

I never did tummy time with my three (who were small when it was already a thing). I figured humanity had learnt to move and walk for centuries without dedicated tummy time and, sure enough, mine did too. Seems to be just another thing to make new mum’s stress about.

All three of mine hated it haha you just have to carry on little and often. 😆

Put them on your chest. That's classed as tummy time

Tbh, I have two DC. 24 and almost 26. 'Tummy time' wasn't a thing when they were babies and they're both doing okay!
