Just a phase? 4 year old clingy all of a sudden

My 4 year old DD is driving me to distraction with her clinginess recently. She's 5 in March and started reception in September, it could be that but she seemed settled and calm prior to half term. She wasn't clingy at all.

She goes to school fine, she runs in in a morning and is confident with a good friendship group. At parents evening before half term no concerns were raised.

Since we got back off holiday a couple of weeks ago (could be the culprit? We were together all the time) she's been soooo clingy. To the point, she doesn't seem to want to play or do anything else but cling to me. She might be mid playing (without me involved) but if she sees me leave the room to nip to the toilet or something, she just stops what she's doing to follow me, no amount of coaxing will make her go back to her game. It's the same if DH is home, even if he tries to get her to play she's just "mummy mummy mummy".

I sat here down and talked to her about it today and she just told me she wants to be with me all the time and that she's scared of losing me, I tried to ask what she means but she couldn't articulate it.

Is this just a phase? She just seem to have had a surge in independence the last month or two so it could be a regression in another area?
