Blood coming out of baby's ear

My 9 month old tends to stratch inside her ears, especially when shes tired. Just recently she got 2 pimples in her ear that have subsequently popped due to her ear scratching.

Since then, the wound has not had a chance to heal and she just keeps repicking the scab. I didnt think it was doctor worthy at first but now I'm concerned she could get an external infection if the wound keeps being picked at.

How do I keep her out of that ear?? Any creative suggestions whilst I look for a GP appointment as I might have to wait a week or 2 as GP is over run.

Can you put mittens or something on her so she's not using nails?

Scratch mitts until it's healed, if she won't leave alone.

My Dd kept scratching her head as a baby, she kept getting her hands out of scratch mitts even the ones attached to baby grows. If I swaddled her she'd rub her head back and forth on the mattress or against me until any hats came off or she'd freed an arm. The doctor said it looked red and sore and gave her antibiotics incase it got infected (but it wasn't) and said I had to break the itch scratch cycle and then she'd be fine. I hadn't thought of that (eye roll). The wound was bigger than her hand, hence the doctor visit.
In the end I bought some self adhesive dressings (giant soft cloth sticky plaster type ones) from boots and kept it on for a week. Worked wonders. Maybe a few days with one over your babys ear would work, depending on how worried you are?
