Baby ill, on holiday in Wales

My DS 6 months has been off colour since yesterday, he had a temp of 37.9 which I brought down with calpol yesterday. I have been presuming he’s teething as he has red cheeks and been unsettled in the night for a while.

Today he is still grumpy, mostly sleepy but just woke up and was screaming so loudly in pain. He hasn’t got a temperature and he’s had more Calpol.

I would take him to the doctor but we’re on holiday in Wales. Is there a 111 equivalent here or would I have to go to A&E?

Have you tried ringing 111 and asking?

Hope the baby feels better soon.

Yes, 111 exists in Wales. Hope DS is feeling better soon.

There's 111 in Wales. Phone them. They should be able to get you into a local clinic if they feel there is a need.

Oh yes phone 111, they will help you & get you a gp appt.

It sounds like he is either teething or has a little bug. It really isn’t something I’d bother out of hours with. They will just tell you to keep up the calpol, which you are doing and it’s working to bring down the fairly low fever. Mostly, I’d just focus on getting some rest and enjoying your holiday. If you need to, split up so one of you takes him out for a bit and the other gets a nap.

Where are you in Wales? There are a lot of minor A and E s, you can get your little one assessed.

Thanks all, I didn’t call but his fever has gone up to 38.5 now so I have called 111 and waiting for a doctor to ring back.
