My baby is a little fart machine...should I be concerned?

DD is 7 months. Started weaning approx 1.5 months ago. She has one meal a day currently late afternoon. Otherwise breastfed. She's always had a sensitive tummy, was very sicky as a newborn. I was advised to cut out dairy, that helped a lot. I've recently started to reintroduce dairy in small amounts into my diet, tbh I don't know if this is even the problem.

I'm not overly concerned. She is putting on weight, has lots of energy, has a good colour and doesn't look deficient in anything. Gobbles down her food, and enjoys her milk. No issues there. Poop seems normal.

The last 2 weeks I've noticed she has become much much more gassy. Think whoopee cushion style farts. Her poor tummy is pretty hard. It is waking her up at night, she shouts in pain ( it is a pained, straining shout rather than a cry) and settles down again after a good old fart. As of last night she has starting to scratch her tummy, which is making me worried she has a tummy ache.

We had a big vomiting episode two weeks ago. Tummy issues have coincided with that, but I don't want to connect the wrong dots.
Would you be worried. I don't want to waste doctors time. She might just be like me and have a sensitive tummy. What do you think? Should I wait and see if it resolved itself. She otherwise seems absolutely fine in herself.

try cutting milk out of your diet again and see what happens. If she is allergic to milk, she may also be allergic to soya so ensure she isn’t eating that while weaning (a lot of breads contain soy flour for example). I would go to the doctor for advice but my gp was useless even though my son was later diagnosed with a cow milk allergy by a pediatrician, so you might need to do some trial and error as to what is causing her sore tummy.

@pongy thank you. I've only been having very small amounts of dairy - I am surprised it could have affected her this badly. I think you are right about trial and error. I don't think it's serious but she is clearly unsettled by it 😢

If you were told to cut it out I don't think I'd have reintroduced it until I was told to by health professional.

They said to reintroduce at 5 months. She is now 7 months 😊
