Swimming lessons for toddlers that I don't need to be at?

My 2yo loves swimming but I have a 1yo and the swimming sessions I've been to/looked at require the parent in the pool.

Are there swimming sessions that exist where I wouldn't have to go into the pool?

I wouldn't imagine so. Surly for a two year old for safely reasons it would have to be one to one?

SecondFavouriteDinosaur · 16/09/2024 22:05

Not for a 2 year old, no.

I was staying at a hotel recently that had a small pool/spa facilities that had an instructor doing toddler swim sessions.

I’ve got a feeling the instructor hired out the pool to give 1-2-1 (or max two toddlers) a lesson.

When they're 3 they go in with an instructor at my local pool.

You’d probably need a private 1:1 lesson with an instructor

SillyNavySnail · 16/09/2024 22:12

At 3 you don't need to be in the water at some lessons.

oustedbymymate · 16/09/2024 22:13

Mine went in on his own from 3

Yes those lessons do exist! But expensive. In South London there is Cindy's swim school.

I have the same age gap. I’m waiting until they are 3 and 4 then I’ll put them into swimming lessons together to get them done at the same time

My 1yo has more water confidence and swimming ability than my 3yo for this and other related reasons.

I want 3yo to have lessons but I cannot get in the water as have a 1yo and instructors won't allow it.

My 3yo missed out swimming as a baby while I was on mat leave due to lockdown.

My 3yo isn't eligible for weekend swimming classes at our local pools until school age, so has another year to wait, and I'm not allowed to go in the water with both children midweek either.

My 1yo was able to go to swimming sessions with me during mat leave (my eldest continued at nursery while I was off on leave with number2) so is actually a better swimmer already, while eldest has to wait another year.

We live near water and there is nowhere that doesn't require you in the pool with them!

Yes we had swimming lessons mine were 4 and 2, they went in the pool without me with the instructor. Look for smaller swim schools not ones the local pool organise. We started in a small group in the local hotel pool

DD started going in on her own in a group with instructors at 3yo. They aren't allowed any younger than that at our local pool

Even the local private swim schools near us won't allow a child in without an parent or carer supervising in the water until age 5. I check every year just in case it's changed!

It's so frustrating!
