Hey everyone we are on a family holiday in the Caribbean my son who's 3years old just came down with a bad cold coughing sneezing runny nose and now in the middle of the night I felt him and he's warm has a fever 38.4c should I wake him to give him some medicine or just allow him to sleep

Any tips on how to treat this cold while away I'm a bit worried bec now I can't just call the GP ... he's been playing around yesterday and having fun which is good but just need some tips on the treat his cough and fever thank you

Calpol?

I'd leave him to sleep, its not a very high temp. When he does wake up give him a dose of calpol or nurofen, and just keep him dosed up throughout the day up the max limit

Don't forget a fever isn't a bad thing, it means his body is doing what its supposed to do. You don't need to keep trying to 'lower it' unless it gets really close to 40. Calpol/nurofen will just keep him feeling well in himself

As above, if he's not feeling horrible then leave the fever. That's how the body kills off the virus.
Lots of fluids, and as much rest as possible and hopefully it won't last long.

As for the cough, if he needs relief then sitting in the room with the hot shower running as steam can help and an extra pillow to prop him up in bed.
